I agree if the auto-positioning of pictures with an integrated GPS is the remedy to this "bug". But otherwise, put yourself instead of the majority of people here, who just have a compact basic camera and just want to enjoy the sharing with others... no one will "play" to enter the position of every pic... have you only done it with all of yours ?
Furthermore from the mountaineering point of view, I don't see much the use of it, unless you plan to climb a very difficult or very desertic mountain like FortMental.
I've hiked dozens of new peaks in the Pyrenees taking all informations I could on internet; most of the time I type in Google the name of the peak plus/or the name of the valley or spot from which I want to see how does the route look like, and it was fine.
I believe it may be easier in Europe since most places have well-established known names, so I don't see the use of GPS on pictures in the Alps and so on.
On the other hand, for the one who goes to Nepal or some remote point of the Rockies, probably OM was right to raise this point... But I'm not the best person for saying it. Perhaps the advice of persons like Corax would be more interesting
