Be Careful out there..

by The Chief » Sat Dec 05, 2009 1:59 pm

A week and half to two week series of Big Ass Wet & Powerful Winter Storm systems are rolling into the Central and Southern Sierra, So Cal Mtns and then onto Arizona, Colorado, Utah, NM etc.

Please, everyone...

Take a deep breath, be patient and check the LOCAL AVY CONDITIONS and Weather Forecast before heading out into the BC. This is prime time critical AVY COND SITU that will in fact kill you and all those in your party. Regardless of all the AVY GEAR you and all those with you may have.

Please remember that the most import piece of AVY GEAR anyone carries into the BC, is in fact that one entity that is located in between their ears...use and listen to that little voice before any other.

I am VERY excited about these storms coming into SoCal. We did get 1.28 inches in the E. County mountains last week, but the coastal area only received a 1/10th an inch. We seriously need rain/snow down here... all but one of the past 10 years in the San Diego mountains have been drought years.

Please tell some of those storms to dump some white stuff in Arizona.

We're in a world of hurt if it doesn't dump on the cactus really soon !!!

Looks like we've got a couple inches of the white stuff in the DC area. Deer hunting season is over in the western part of Virginia; bushwhacking season has begun! Nothing like some snow to bury the ticks and other pests that make summer bushwhacks so unpleasant in our mountains.

Have fun, be careful out there, and keep your kitties and doggies warm.

Is this system going to reach the Mt. Shasta area?

Thanks for the reminder Chief. That's why we're heading out into the plains tomorrow for an adventure instead of the mountains; it's gonna get nasty up there!

All kittehs aside, I wandered up to Lower Morgan Lake today from Pine Creek, and what snow is up there already is sugar-dry. Spin was really flying off from all angles, and whatever new stuff does come down is going to have an extremely weak layer beneath it.

Agreed w/ The Chief: use your head.

Heck, it's howling in B-town right now, so careful out on the roads, too!

Good time to dust off the avi beacon and practice with it before you head out!

Right on, Alex! Somebody told me that you should be getting at least two feet up there!

Well, time to throw another yule log on the fire, and get out that flask of spiced eggnog.
