Trad climbing around Bayern

by gegarrenton » Wed Feb 24, 2010 10:42 pm

Will be in Bavaria this October, would like to get some climbing while I am there. Any locals who can point me the right way?

Look into the Oberreintal in the Wetterstein Range near Garmisch. Good trad routes in there enough for many days of climbing. The Wilder Kaiser near the town of Kufstein on the Austria/Germany border a bit east. There is so much more, but that is a start.

Thanks mvs, the Oberriental was one area I had been eyeballing.

Can anyone clue me in to the conditions on the Zugspitze and Alpspitze in the end of Sept? A few of the guys I'll be in Munchen with want to see the sights.

Conditions are usually great in September unless you have bad luck and there's early snow. But generally one can expect a fair amount of sun and temperatures around 0°C higher up.
