Thanksgiving week mountaineering courses

by superbob95 » Thu Aug 19, 2010 3:08 pm

Hey guys I'm really new to mountaineering but want to either go on a trip or a mountaineering skills course over thanksgiving (9 days off). Things is, most of the short expedition trips and mountaineering courses end for the summer in september, and restart for winter stuff in december. Does anyone know some good programs I can do then? I thought November in south america would be good (spring), but haven't found much. I'm in med school, so my travel time is very limited. Any help would be appreciated

There are winter courses you can take, check the American Alpine Club website.
Also as you mentioned South America should be good, but it is along trip for just a course..unless you treat it as a vacation and stay longer in that beautiful part of the world...
The other way could be the Alps, and for that you should check the Guide Office in Chamonix.
