Guidebook recommendation for greater Squamish area

by TimmyC » Mon Sep 20, 2010 2:43 am

Anyone have any good recommendations for climbing guidebooks for Squamish and the surrounding rocks (Grand Wall, Stawamus Chief, etc)? I mean, yeah, I can google some titles, but, given how much some of the self-published titles cost, I'd prefer not to purchase any lame titles. Personal experience with the guide is what I'm looking for. So, any particularly good/complete ones? Pamphlets from local shops? Spiral-bound xeroxes?

Thanks in advance.

(Note: I'm not down on the high price of small-run or self-published guides. Garth Bruce's Exit 38 guide, for instance, is worth every penny of the almost thirty bucks it cost. I'll totally support an indie guidebook writer if the work is good.)

A good bouldering guide is this one:

Have fun!

I have a copy of "Squamish Select" by Marc Bourdon. It includes Murrin Park, Shannon Falls, The Chief, Grand Wall Boulders, Smoke Bluffs, Cheakamus Canyon, etc. Picked it up at Climb On in Squamish. Having it autographed by Sonnie Trotter was an added bonus. :D
