BLACK DIAMOND X-15 BRS Ice Tools Circa 1991

Any info on these ice tools would be greatly appreciated. They are the ones with the bonded rubber shafts BD came out with them around 1991.

Thanks for any help.

Good all around alpine tools. The shafts are a bit thick for some folk's hands. Came in lengths from 45-70 I think. Shaft was a fusion of aluminum and fiberglass, and some carbon fiber too, I think. Grippy bonded rubber was a big step up from the original X-15's which had a smooth, slick shaft. The pick attachment was also better. The original X-15's tended to have poor pick fit issues, and picks wobbled and shifted as a result. BRS X-15's pick attachment set up solved this.

A solid tool for alpine and moderate water ice.
