SummitPost.org Inaccessible at Times???

by WhitePine » Wed Jan 12, 2011 5:57 am

Has anyone noticed this? I'll come to the site and I keep getting re-directed to a SummitPost: Thanks for Visiting site with a few ads on it and no access to the forums or the site or anything.

I like this site but its becoming frustrating. When I can only use it at select times of the day. What is going on? Are the servers frequently down or something?

This has happened to me a lot this week. Cannot access the site at all from some locations and get the same page full of ads. When I do get in it is slower than normal and frequently crashes my browser.

My problem could be separate from whats going on here, but I notice a bit of lag when submitting stuff as simple as a comment.

I only have a few photos posted. Unless you were pointing at someone else.

Edit: Mbpost seems to be a bit faster for me for some reason. :?

The site has been extremely slow for me- nothing to do with submitting photos. Whether it is the forums, opening mountain pages, looking at others photos, it is all slow. At first I thought it might be my computer but I think not as other websites are running fine.

I regularly have the exact same problem, with the website lagging and taking forever to go from one page to another.

Maybe my photos have caused such a heightened viewing volume that it has impaired the website altogether. Just a thought..

I have many photos I would love to share, but it's discouraging with this lag. Perhaps it would be worse if I tried.

I hope I did not sound demanding in my last post. Matt your doing a great job here. I'll be patient, I just thought I would mention it. I have not been able to upload much because sometimes it would take a while just for the create page button to load, almost everything else loads a bit "better". Thanks Matt. :)

I have been having the "Cannot access the site at all and get the page full of ads" problem for the last month whenever I access summitpost from my home ISP. From other locations SP works fine for me. I contacted the elves to confirm my home IP is not banned. The problem remains a mystery.

That's exactly what I've been seeing. Frustrating. I was thinking the servers keep going down or something.

Yes, that is what all summitpost urls redirect to from my home ISP.
