Devil's Bedstead East

by DrGranola » Sun Jul 31, 2011 3:06 am

What is the recommended approach for the North face / ridge route. Kane creek, or Boulder Creek? Also what are the roads like? Will a Subaru Outback be able to make the drive? Also any other info related to camping in the area would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

I was up there yesterday via Boulder Creek. my Subaru Forester made it just fine. the road is actually very nice for idaho. there is car campiing at the trail head or a nice lake around 10,200. thats where we camped. there is still a fair amount of consolidated snow on the face and an Ice axe and crampons are highly recomended unlesst you tackle the class 4 ridge then an ice axe would have been nice for one or two dicy spots. I have not been up Kane Creek but hear that a Subaru can make it within a mile of the trail head before the creek crossings. BTW the Mosquitos are the worst I have ever seen up there, They will eat deet for breakfast
Have fun Boulder Creek is a very magical place.
