Help me identify this peak

by jlongsta » Tue Aug 30, 2011 7:14 pm

I photographed this peak on a recent flight from Denver to LA. I thought is was beautiful and am wondering if someone can help me identify the mountain. I would love to hike to the lakes if there are trails. I believe we were in southwest Colorado.

I'd say Sneffels with the Blue Lakes.

EDIT: Yes, Capitol, as pointed out below.

Beautiful picture!

Seems like Capital from the SE. If that were the case, that would be Pierre Lakes in front and Capitol Creek behind. Normal route would be on the righthand ridge. Snowmass would be just out of the pic to the lower left.

Xue is correct. Capitol Peak viewed roughly from its southeast.

Thanks to everyone who responded. Yes, I'm sure it is Capitol. This is why I always choose a window seat!! I got some great shots of Keystone and Breckenridge too!
