I hope to do my last 3 state highpoints in New England - Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island. Mount Frissell seems to be a different animal. What's the best way to tackle it in January (South Taconic trail, Mt. Frissell trail)? Snowshoes? Crampons? Thanks for any good advice.
Been a heck of a warm, near-snowless winter in southern New England so far. Don't know the forecast for the next week, but barring a big storm, snowshoes won't be necessary. At this rate, you won't even have enough snow to wear crampons without breaking an ankle. If you've got MicroSpikes, bring those.
