Torres del Paine NP, French Valley

by schaffner » Fri Feb 17, 2012 6:31 am

I'm looking for some easy climbs/scrables out of the French Valley in Torres del Paine NP (or other areas on the W). I don't want to bring gear, so a nice class 3 or 4 ridge would be perfect. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

My friend the only route that you dont need gear in the W (only iceaxe, crampons & helmet all of them possible to rent on Erratic Rock in Puerto Natales) its the Normal Route to Admiral Nieto Mount, NE Ridge, its a PD, III°(fixed rope), 2000 mts from Las Torres Conaf Camp, usually 10 hours round trip, its the very best viewpoint in the Park and you will be almost above everything arround you.

link of the route only in Spanish, http://www.andeshandbook.org/rutas.asp?codigo=136

this is thge view from near the top, I work as a Guide so I been here twice, if you need some info let me know, remeber you should ask for a permision to climb in the Park, they will ask you a Permision from DIFROL (limits and border ofice from the gob.) and Insurance.

José

ahhhh the only thing you really need its GOOD WEATHER ejejej, remeber its a ridge, and the winds hit really strong there, the last part must be scarry with wind, good luck.
for weather recomend you http://ready.arl.noaa.gov/READYcmet.php use:
Lat: -50°
Long: -73°
follow the Meteogram instructions at the end of the page in this link: http://www.pataclimb.com/knowledge/chaltenweather.html
