I'm a woman who has small, somewhat wide hands with short fingers. I'm trying to find a glove warm enough for a planned Denali trip that fits me properly. For example, the OR Alti glove, size small, is wide enough but the fingers of the gloves extend an inch or more past my fingers so I have no dexterity while wearing them. Finger length is my biggest problem; gloves nearly always have fingers that are way too long for me.

Any advice will be welcome.

I have the opposite problem.. my fingers seem to be a little longer than they should be.

I suck at gear questions, and rarely try to help, as I just don't go through much gear nor pay much attention to what people are using or what's coming out... but I know mitts are easier to fit and are warmer in general. It'll be a lot easier to find a good, warm, fitting liner, and then cover up with an expedition mitt for general warmth. No expectation of dexterity with a mitt- can't be disappointed!

I also had a hard time finding warm gloves with a removable liner that had a good fit without losing dexterity. I tried on so many different gloves -- different sizes in both women specific and men's/unisex versions -- it drove me crazy. I wound up with the BD Guide in a men's small. My best advice is to try on as many different ones as you can till you find what feels best. You might have an easier time than I did since you live in Colorado, once stores start stocking up for winter. Some websites like Moosejaw do free shipping for many orders, so you can order several different sizes/models at once and return what doesn't work.

I had four pairs of gloves on Denali and the system worked very well for me. I had a pair of light fleece/soft shell gloves and a pair of OR Extraverts that I was able to switch between for much of the time through 14K (typically I'd leave camp with the Extraverts on and the fleece gloves in a pocket, and as I warmed up I'd switch, with the Extraverts clipped onto my harness so they were always readily accessible). I wore the Guides on the move to high camp through summit day and back down to 14K. Never used my mitts (OR Alti mitts), but of course you have to have them. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Arc'Teryx extra small gloves fit me well, and I typically have a similar problem.
