Gilgit Baltistan Council, Government of Pakistan has decided to continue fee reduction in mountain royalty fee for the calendar year 2013 as per details given below

• Zero royalty fee for peaks up to 6500-M
• 10% royalty fee on mountains situated in Chitral, Gilgit and Ghizer except on Spantik/Golden Peak.
• 05% royalty fee on all peaks during winter season(December-February)
• 40% discount on royalty fee on all peaks except as mentioned in (i) and (ii) above as per following beak up

K-2 8611M 7200 US dollar for a team of 07 members and per additional member 1200 US dollar
8001-8500M 5400 US dollar and per additional member 900 US dollar
7501-8000M 2400 US dollar and per additional memeber 300 US dollar
7001-7500M 1500 US dollar and per additional member 180 US dollar
6501-7000M 900 US dollar and per additional member 120 US dollar
6500 to below free to climb without paying the royalty fee

how about making it easier for Americans to get visa? can't climb the peak unless we can get into the country.

The visa situation has changed fairly recently for Brits and Americans. I've looked into things from a British point of view and it seems as though I should still be able to get a visa but am going to have to sort a LOI and make myt trip look a bit more bonified. It might be a bit harder for Americans so would check a few forums (Lonely Planet,etc) to see the latest news about how people are getting on. If it is anything like the UK then which embassy/consulate you apply through may make a difference.

i tried applying for it at the Pakistan Embassy in Nepal with no luck. i was told that i can get it at the Pakistan High Commission Office in New Delhi. but the best way is to get it at your home country which i won't be in for a while. yes, a letter of invitation can be helpful. i can get you one if needed. i have talked to many Americans/Brits in Nepal recently and all of them got their Pakistan visa from home. i read on Lonely Planet that you can get a one-month visa on arrival through land border crossing from China to Pakistan at Sust. visa extension is another huddle though.
