Chamonix day routes?

by echo34 » Thu Jun 05, 2014 8:41 pm

I am going to the alps (Chamonix) in mid august this year and I have a few overnight routes planned with hut stays, however to allow for weather we are likely to have a few spare days. Can anyone recommend any day routes that can be completed start to finish in one day without the need to stay overnight, in the Chamonix area around PD/+ grades?

Hey that looks cool - might check that one out. What about via ferrata and other outdoorsy day trips June-July?

Mont Blanc du Tacul
Aiguille de Entreves Traverse
rock climbing at Les Gaillands, which is right in Chamonix, well bolted, big, and tons of variety
If the weather is bad on the French side, drive into Italy and climb at Corma di Machaby. The rain shadow typically means one side is good if the other is bad.
Vallee Blanche Traverse
Or take a rest day in Aosta or Courmayer, or drive down to Annecy, which is beautiful. Rent a bike and go around the Lake Annecy.
The whole area is frickin' awesome. Probably my favorite region in the world.
