Shasta: Casaval Ridge (In Season?)

by Foreman » Mon Nov 17, 2014 8:14 pm

Hey all,

Does anyone have any idea as to how the past few years have been treating the snow conditions of the Casaval route of Shasta in the early winter--specifically around the mid-to-late December time frame?

Many thanks!

I climbed Shasta early December last year and the ridges were not a consideration, even in late December I think. But I'd suspect it would be very dependent on recent storms (and a weather opening) so just something you'll have to check and be flexible on.

Last December I did Avalanche Gulch. Because nothing on the ridges and winds were far too high that weekend. But no snow in the gulch either. It was horrible.
