Hey there! As a long time fan of trees and such, and as a new arrival to the wonderful pacific coast I figure its about damn time to get my boots dirty. I'm currently living north of ocean shores, WA, and am looking for others who enjoy exploring the oftentalked about/rarely seen wonders of the Hoh Rain Forest and other beautiful places.

I'm into all forms of recreating in the outdoors, and have experience rock climbing all over this state, as well as in Oregon and Nevada.

I'm an old guy who grew up in Tacoma-Gig Harbor and have
hiked extensively in the Olympics while growing up. Have no
idea what your fascination with rainforest is but suggest if you
want to get away from the hordes of people pounding up and
down the Hoh River Trail that you try some of the following
trails and cross country routes which might provide a less
crowded environment and more pleasing experience.
l North Fork of the Quinault River Trai
2. Queets River Trail
3. South Fork of the Hoh Trail
4. Bogachiel River Trail
All the above are through rainforest. If you want a more varied
experience in the Olympics try:
1. Flapjack Lakes Trail to Black-White Lakes over Mt Henderson
to Gladys Divide and out by way of Flapjack Lakes.
2. Hamma Hamma River to Mildred Lakes and up Mt Lincoln
and back out
3. Mt Jupiter Trail-Day Hike
4. Duckabush River Trail to Marmot -Heart Lakes
5. Mt Ellinor Trail to Summit and traverse to Mt
Washington and out Mt Washington Trail or
do each part separately.
The Olympics are becoming over loved by outdoorsmen. Unless
you are willing to get off trail in to some of the more remote
areas like the Upper South Fork of the Hoh you will see lots of
hikers. Enjoy your hikes!
