Thanks everyone :)

I'm not yet fully recovered, and perhaps I never will be .. spinal cord injury is incurable, at present.

Most people are told that the first two years post injury are the most important - whatever recovery you can make within this time is more than likely the limit of what you can do. I have heard stories of people making slow progress for years afterwards though.

Considering that I could be in a wheelchair right now, or on a ventilator, and/or unable to use my hands, forearms or legs (not to mention some other items of my anatomy  ), I feel pretty lucky.

Maybe I will be leading 5.8 trad in my lifetime and leading ice again .. or not -- who knows. I count my wonderful friends as blessings, and am thankful for what I have been able to do.

If you see the Llama Mobile in the Sierra this summer, don't be afraid to say hello :)

Two years ago I returned home from the hospital, to face the rest of my life with a disability.

Shortly after the accident, Craig went to the salvage yard where they had towed my car and got my climbing gear out, and took some pictures. Until a few days ago I didn't think I could handle seeing them.

I'm told the car rolled four or five times. Hard for me to believe I lived  I guess it's no wonder that four out of seven of my cervical vertebrae were broken and / or dislocated. I remember struggling to get out of the car, and not being able to move my left arm or leg. Shit, I'm gonna spend the rest of my days in a nursing home

It amazes me to think that I've been climbing pretty much all summer. I'm not anywhere near as strong as I used to be, but hell, it beats the alternative :D

Craig and Carolyn : I will never forget how much you both helped me while I was in the hospital, and afterwards. I don't think I'll ever be able to thank you enough !

Rob, congratulations!!

I think anniversary dates provide the opportunity for a bit of introspection. It is still pretty amazing to think of how far you have come.

Thanks everyone.

Lisa, you've been through a lot yourself !

I believe I still owe you a "victory climb" in Yosemite or Tollhouse or where ever .. (anywhere except Pinnacles actually ;) )

You don't have to thank us Rob, just glad you're alive and doing so well; glad we could help. :)

As one would say about their demolished sportbike, that car got WADDED. Easy to see how the ensuing damage could have occured. Understandable how it would be extremely difficult to look at the car afterwards...

As said before, the recovery is (continues to be) remarkable. Keep on keeping on.
