Sangres Question: Mt. Adams to Fluted Peak Traverse

by rockthrowjoe » Wed Jan 25, 2012 3:58 pm

Has anyone ever done (or know of someone who has) the traverse of the ridge between PT13,325, on Mt. Adams East Ridge, to Fluted Peak in the Sangre De Cristo Range? I'm looking for beta on this ridge as there are 5 "steps" on the ridge that must be down-climbed.

Cheers,

Jed

Have you seen this shot of the ridge, from the Mt Adams gallery?

Doesn't look too bad, at least what's visible.

Anyhow it sounds like a fun idea, good luck.

rockthrowjoe, I just read your comment on the ridge photo - looks like you found it. Cool.

Yep,

Here are the photos I've found that show the traverse best. The biggest issue right now is I don't have anything for scale to get an idea of how "big" these steps are. The last one "step 5" looks to be the toughest and biggest. 8)

I had a great time doing Mt. Adams East Ridge and made it to the 2nd step on the traverse to Fluted Pk when the avy danger of: freshly wind-loaded snow on top of a icy/crusty layer lying on 35deg slabs turned me back. I have a TR here: http://14ers.com/php14ers/tripreport.php?trip=11437&cpgm=tripmain&ski=Include Thanks for the beta/pics cdog.

Here's an  AMAZING  sunset picture I took just after leaving the TH and on my way to Westcliffe. I posted a BIG version of it at this link on SP.
