Selling Entire Alpinist Magazine collection (less #11) + FAs

by ScottieB » Wed Nov 11, 2009 12:52 am

It pains me to do this, but hard times have come.

I'm selling my entire collection of Alpinist Magazines with the exception of #11. Also there is no #13 because Alpinist never produced a #13 due to superstitions. Additionally, I'm including the 2005 First Ascents calendar. A large majority of the Alpinist Magazines are in mint condition while a few issues show some spine wear. As you may know, the Alpinist Warehouse burned down sometime around Issue #20, so back issues prior to this are hard to find. If it matters to you, I purchased the first 18 issues from John Varco (his personal collection) and then collected the rest myself.

If you're in the Denver area, you're welcome to buy them in person for $550. Otherwise, I've got them listed with PICTURES online via the following link:

Sometimes I think 11 is a myth and doesn't exist. The only one I'm missing, never seen it anywhere.

I know they had a fire, but are they selling any of the more recent issues?

Ebay basically. I have two copies of 20, 22 and 23 if you'd like to make an offer?

I remember when I was still searching for several back issues myself (have whole collection now) and #11 was indeed harder to find for some reason but when I saw a nice copy up on ebay, and it was my last one I needed, there was no way I was going to lose that auction. I do believe I paid around $90 for that issue alone due to the amount of bidders who were after it but I don't regret it for even a moment.
