I am looking to hike Veleta from Albergue Universitario when I travel to Spain at the end of this month. I cannot seem to find the distance in kilometers for this route. I know the elevation change is around 850 meters. I have read that it will take anywhere form 2 to 5 hours to reach the summit. Does anyone know the approximate distance, so that I can more accurately calculate the time I would need. Thank you.

The distance varies between 7 and 11 km around depending on whether or not you take all the road curves. In the most of them, is possible and easy take a shortcut, especially with snow, and it's the better option.
About the time, I think that 5 hours is exagered (very exagered); in my experience, that is the time for going and returning in normal conditions (dry or solid snow) by foot; skiing is less time.
