The skeeters were pretty abundant this past Memorial day weekend in Yosemite Valley. They weren't so bad in the sun or once off the deck, but belaying on shady TRs and/or shady first pitches was miserable, despite liberal application of 100% DEET.

Hooker meadow near kennedy meadows last weekend had them...enough to be annoying, but not enough to make me bust out the deet...then again I was feeling realy lazy this weekend and it was easier just swating them.

I've seen little to nothing in the way of Skeeters in the past few weeks anywhere between Yosemite and Tahoe above 8000 feet or so.

In the past couple days they've been out in force at dusk at lake level (~6000-7000ft) in Tahoe.

They were out in force along Lyon Creek on the way to Pyramid Peak yesterday. And of course I had no spray.

Anyone been around cottonwood lakes recently, up by the lakes rather than the trailhead campground? Heading out there in a week and my wife seems to always be a magnet. I wouldn't mind since they leave me alone when she is around except that she makes for a very angry tent mate.

We had a few after dusk in the Meysan Lakes area this past weekend. Not enough to be a bother however.

Desolation now has skeeters in force in the forested areas above Echo Lake.
(And I assume the whole Velma/Dicks late basin has 'em now as well)

And they've been out at Tahoe lake level for the past week or so.
Today was the first time I had to DEET up in the high country.

They were pretty bad this evening on my walk along the truckee river....I ended up having to get back on the pavement away from the river and meadow areas to get away from them...my morning walk around 10:00 I was in the same area and I did not even notice them....that early evening time I think is the worse

What happened to Mt. Abbot?

There were some around Bubbs Creek near Vidette Meadow on Saturday, but they really weren't too bad--I never had to put on Deet.

Did Conness, Johnson, Williamson and Tyndal last week (week of June 22) and had no problems with mosquitos in any of theose locations.

Stopped at Tenaya Lake on the return trip yesterday and they were waiting for me there...
