That is some chossy looking rock there. You need to get out and about...

So the chalk "X" means y'all preinspected the route on tr and now you're rap bolting it?

Where's your sense of adventure, man?

For some reason your picture reminds me of the time up at the high desert when I watched a guy place the first bolt on his new route while standing with both feet on the ground.

There, is that the kind of slander you're trollin' for?

You're right Dingus, that man may have hair on his hands but they have the musculature of a woman. I bet he doesn't even really climb.

Hey Joe, please go tell "Mike" that he needs to post something.

Good catch Kris, I saw the X also. I hope at least it's a good climb they be making.

Hey Dingus, I have no problem with folks rap bolting so long as they do good routes in an appropriate venue. I don't do it myself except for maintenance/replacement work which is just that: work. Giving something back.

I'll leave that kind of route development to others who are good at it, seems like there's no shortage. But I am not the hardline traditionalist I was 20 years ago. Still I think the atrocity on Half Dome crosses the line. That's what I mean by appropriate venue.

For me, I don't do very many new routes but when I do I am on a mission for adventure...

That was my question for the troll...

Lotta dough in that pic - most folks don't get the whole 'cost component' to your average sport route. Its cheap as hell to clip someone else's route. But if you're equipping your own the cost of sport quickly exceeds the cost of trad. Ironic, don't you think?

That stash of bolts is from the ASCA. You can thank them, Greg Barnes and all for raising the bucks. Better yet make a donation. I am using them for selective anchor and bolt replacement at The Needles, where certain routes have become death defying stunts due to stuff like this

Joe, those are used to open up the Gates. Don't get caught with those in your truck by the tools.

I know a place where the gate chain gets cut and replaced over and over. Somebody got smart and pulled the whole gate out of the ground, uprights and all and took it away.
