It is a good film based upon a very interesting book. The upclose views of the Second Step from different angles were the highlight of the movie to me. I now think that O'dell's initial statement that he saw Mallory ascending the Second Step was probably correct .

Yea it doesn't look like it's going to be playing in theatres anywhere near me. Do they release them on DVD after do you know? I think it would be interesting to watch.

Looks fairly entertaining. I'm kind of tired though with films on Everest. I want to see some good stuff on another peak for once!

"North Face" or "Northwand" (Germany-2008 )is an outstanding climbing movie about the Eiger attempts. It's on Netflix.

I saw it at the opening in LA and while the concept of the expedition was interesting the way in which it was executed was contrived. North Face was a far better movie.

Even if he didn't reach the pinnacle, the very idea of Mallory making it as far as he is generally understood to have gone is, for me, the absolute, pure distillation of the very concept of 'will'.

When one views the current batch of films and/or TV features about everest ascents, and those who turn back from the summit, for whatever reason, given the various camps, oxygen, sherpas, technologies, techniques, etc... his was a towering achievement amongst tower achievements.
