It is with great sadness that I report the untimely deaths of three climbers on Aconcagua this week. The first was a German climber and my partner on the Polish Direct route when he fell during his descent from 21,000 feet. Two Italian climbers also passed away after being trapped by a storm at 22,000 feet on the same route. Rescue attempts are underway to save the remaining two Italian climbers and an Argentinian guide by the Mountain Rescue team on Aconcagua.

This is tragic news Brad, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your climbing partner. As someone who has also lost a climbing partner, I know how horribly difficult it is to cope with all of the emotions. My heart and condolences go out to you, your family, and the families of the fallen climbers.

I'm very sad. I did not know personally Federico Campanini (the Argentinian guide) and the Italian climber (Elena Senin) died on Aconcagua. My brother was with Federico on Cerro Solo about 3 years ago and he was considered by all (Italian guides and friends) a young but already expert climber. Condolance to friends and families of Federico and Elena.

Oh my god! I'm so sorry, I missed that the first time through. This is terrible news. All my good energy is out to you and your partner's family and friends. As well, I will be sending good energy to the Italian and Argentinian's families.
