What do you look for in a mountain climbing website

by mattpayne11 » Tue Nov 17, 2009 4:19 pm

I'm currently developing my first website for fun (fun is a relative term), and wanting to know what the community might be looking for in terms of features. Personally, I tend to use three or four websites for my information and would not mind having it all in one place. Thoughts? Ideas? Anyone interested in beta-testing some features?

Basically, I would like what SP's got, plus some drag 'n drop analytics widgets and more robust climbing resume organization / viewing features. (e.g. enable users to organize their climbs by region or elevation category or run some analytics/build charts based on climbing history.

Seems like the "mountain stuff" website category is pretty crowded and played-out. Perhaps instead of building a new site, you could focus on building apps and add-ons for existing sites.

Sarah - what kind of analytics do you think would be useful? I already have what you're describing in a way, but maybe I can add to my tables.

Sorry to hijack your thread...had a lot of fun, though. Good luck with the new mountaineering website!

No problem Martha! I don't mind some fun banter as long as people also give me some fun ideas :-)

Also let me know if anyone is interested in beta testing the site when I have it ready.
