Are these things:

I shot this video in the West Sierra just a few days ago. Found at about 4,000 ft. altitude, billions of these critters littered on small fragments of snow.

In particular, those are Sierra parasitic springtails. They crawl through the host's hair, and deposit eggs in the scalp. The eggs hatch to larvae with remarkable speed, then the larvae burrow into the scalp. The first wave burrows out through the heels, and leaves swellings that are reminiscent of blisters. A week later, the second wave burrows down through the sinuses, and out through the nose. If you were that near them, you should look for the infection signs. I would suggest that you take pictures of your heels and external nasal passages, and post them here every day, so experts can look for signs of infestation.
