Windsor Trail (NM) conditions?

by scooter12ga » Wed Aug 17, 2011 3:48 am

Hey all,

I was hoping to hike up to Lake Peak this weekend, and reading the SF Nat Forest closure from the Pacheco fire, it appears that Windsor Trail is open, but it is the boundary of the closure area (i.e. no bushwhacking to the north.) This should be OK, considering we only need to use the Windsor trail for the first 1/2 mile or so until we break off to the East to gain Raven's Ridge.

Has anyone been up there lately that can confirm if the trail is open?

Thanks,

~Mike

The Windsor is open. A friend of mine hiked to Nambe Lake last week. It's downhill (i.e. west and a northwest) of the Windsor that you'd run into the fire boundary, but Lake Peak and Santa Fe Baldy should be fine.

Awesome! That's the kind of confirmation I was looking for.

Thanks, again.

If anyone else is looking for info, here's a map of the Pacheco Fire closure (posted at the Windsor trailhead):
