Approach


Follow the motorway Torino-Aosta, exit Pont San Martin (very interesting roman bridge), direction Gressoney; after the village of Fontainemore, turn right following the sign Pilaz (15 minutes after the bridge). Here you can park.

Essential Gear


Walk up for the first part along the non asphalted road built for the farmers, till the Vargno lake. Leave left side this road, and come down a bit in the flat land, and continue till the beginning of the Balma lake.
Take at your right the path to Chardon Pass; at the pass the path joins the one who arrive from Biella side, follow it till the summit; is quite steep.
