Pinnacle Buttes and Stormy Skies

View in Orig for better size and detail; this picture has been cropped a little.

Seen from Brooks Lake. None of these pinnacles are one of the four main summits of the massif; they are along the narrow, jagged ridge connecting the NW and main peaks.

Because of the rock quality, these pinnacles are rarely, if ever, climbed; some of the pinnacles of this massif have never been climbed.

Nice Photo

One striking thing about this photo is the beetle killed conifers at the base of these pinnacles!
Great sky! Great Light!

Re: Nice Photo

Thanks, Tim. I was up top around there a few hours before and climbed one of its neighbors the next morning. Great outings!

Striking

The striations of rock layers look cool.

Re: Striking

Thanks-- this is one of my favorite mountain formations; it's a beauty to see and great fun to climb.
