What a view!
Great little scramble. Combined this one with Plummer Peak since it seemed to be the cool thing to do. :) The ridge looked pretty intimidating from the summit of Plummer Peak but as I kept going up, it seemed less intimidating. It was still pretty steep with some exposure once you get high enough. A fall would not turn out well. I enjoyed the summit, but thought the views from Plummer were better, probably since you get to look at Pinnacle. Anyway, great hike and scramble. A classic. I'll have to do this one again when I need a quick scrambling fix.
With Moni - add one more opinion on the rating - Class 3
With Fred. Combined with The Castle. Went in the regular way then around from the east side of the The Castle back to Reflection Lake to make a nice loop. Still tons of snow - ice axe and crampons were helpful. Rock itself was dry. Managed to snag the one decent weather day - drove home in the rain the next day.
All snow from Reflection lakes parking lot until the scramble to the top. Fun scramble with great views of Rainier and also Adams, Hood, and St Helens to the south.
Attempted the North Ridge in winter. Turned around at a steep, hard to protect looking gendarme.
Alpine training on the S aspect, good day on the mountain!
One of my first repels off a mountain. Great little peak! Pinnacle Peak Map
Fun stuff, good view
With Plummer, Denman, Lane, and Wahpenayo. A little more snow would have helped the side-hilling between them all.
A great set of little peaks. Do all three if you go.
We climbed up from Pinnacle/Castle saddle and down the trail. One guidebook claimed it to be class 2, but it was more fun than that.
Fun rock scramble up, nice rappel down. The first in a western traverse.
a nice paradise alternative for great views of the mountain.
Did this with my friend from DC on a nice sunny day.
Many years ago I went with my father-in-law up Pinnacle and Plummer peaks. We had a great day and had a great workout! Sunny and warm.
Fun scramble up the warm, sun-baked rocks. Had a snack and talked about routes on Rainier. Snacked on blueberries and watched fat marmonts on the way down.
Bring helmets. Definitely some exposure at times.
Nice short scramble. Great place.
We were scheduled to climb Rainier the next day, so we did this as a warmup. Lots of fun, and even got a sneak preview of Rainier through the clouds. A great taste of what was to come.
