up the wash  Sucess!

I could not tell which ridge would be best to ascend so I chose the wash instead. Took two hours and fifty minutes to the summit, via the west ridge. Aiming for the wash is actually the best option, but rather than entering directly into the wash you have to immediately climb the right hand side of the wash to attain that ridge, which will allow you to pick up a herd path once you reach the top that will take you all the way to the summit.

2nd Ascent  Sucess!

Eagle the day before. The morning started out calm and cool, but by midway through the climb the wind was picking up. It was going up to 50 mph by the time I made it back to the car through a sandstorm.

Flowers everywhere  Sucess!

My wife Penelope, our friend Kathleen Edwards and I hiked the mountain on our day off from rock climbing in J Tree in March 2009. We had a wonderful day chasing wild flowers which were abundant. Good hike in J Tree NP.
