Cascade Porter warm up
Lord it feels good to be out of the house. Covid has kept us in too long. Did Cascade and Porter on a cold winter's day. Light snow and light wind. Porter is not bald, so, I was freezing when we hit the summit.

Cool, rainy hike.

Porter
Cascade is better for the bald summit, but combining the two is easy enough. People who want a taste of what the hike peaks are like should definitely combine the two, it should make you want to do more hiking.

First of two
One hour and forty three minutes from the TH on the road. The view isn't as good as the one on Cascade but it's still a lot of bang for the buck.

Cascade + Porter
Done fairly quickly after Cascade. Had poor visibility that day so could not soak in good views from either, good time nonetheless.

Porter Cascade twopeat
The easiest of my 46er hikes....#4 & 5. Tons of people due to the proximity to the road. The views here are astounding!

First ADK peak in four years
My first Adirondacks peak in four years since returning back east. Extremely muddy and slick with ice. Headed up here, then went up to the summit of Cascade.

Porter cascade winter
Not a bad climb despite icy trails and winter rain. Couldnt make the summit due to a bad fall by my gf, read Cascade Attempt x2 for details. Beautiful and moderate hike despite the inability to summit. Look fwd to a quick day hike this spring.

Nice
This is a nice peak to be on. Nice view of Cascade mountain and not a long ways from Cascade either. Must do if you are already on the trail.

Easy
Procceded to hike Porter Mountain 4059' after summiting and enjoying the view Cascade Mountain had to offer. We headed back down about 0.3 miles from the summit of Cascade and then proceeded 0.8 miles to the summit of Porter Mountain. The trail was very easy going but offered some challenges due to an icey trail and deep snow to our left and right of the iced over trail, not to mention our lack of microspikes/crampons. Regardless, the hike was very easy and after taking some pictures on the summit we headed back down Cascade and hiked the last half of the trail back to the Cascade Pitchoff on Rt. 73 in the dark (Glad I remembered my headlamp).

Meh
Coupled with Cascade climb - takes about 30 minutes to summit from the trail junction. Not worth it by itself, but worth the sidetrip from a Cascade climb. Couple good views, though repeats of Cascade's
