Thanks for your vote and comments. I liked it there as well, though the surrounding mountains are much more impressive. But it is a perfect tranquil place to look at these surrounding mountains.

Where to stay

When visiting the area it can be difficult finding a first night hotel or a handy one to use all through the stay. I can recommend two from personal experience (I use them both often). They are at both ends of the price scale, both are good with climbers, skiers, hikers, very accomodating, give lifts as well!! Budget Hotel: Gastof Bruckele. This is right in the heart of the Braeis, you can walk, climb direct from here. 4 Star Hotel: The Hotel Adler. Neiderdorf centre, good bus, train connections, great place to stay.

Getting There.

This can seem a little daunting. Best airports to use are: Venice, Verona, Innsbruck.
The best way from Innsbruck is by train. Shuttle from airport to the Hauptbahnhof then catch the regular train to Neiderdorf.
From Venice I usually use the train via Verona but a company called 'Terravision' have an inexpensive bus/taxi tansfer system. From Verona: Hop on an airport shuttle to the Railway station, then train via Franzenfeste to Neiderdorf/Villabassa. If you've booked a hotel they will arrange to collect you from the station.
