North to South solo traverse over one night and two days. High pressure brought blue skies and arctic air. Overnight low of about -10 with average winds both days. Camped in Spinx Col. Snow squall chased me down the south side of Washington on day two.
Great trip up Mt Washington during Feb.'13. Good dose of the famous bad weather, but not enough to end our trek. Completely awesome experience. Love to come back to this area in summer and do the Presidential Traverse, and others.
Did the full traverse. We were going to try it in 24 hours but, despite a forecast for clear skies, rain began as we approached Jefferson (welcome to the Whites) so we decided to descend to the Perch and sleep in the leanto. Finished the next day I absolute perfect weather. 60 degrees, slight breeze and crystal blue skies.
Did the Entire Presidential Traverse. Took me around 24 hrs. Nice Range! Surprising for the East Coast. Loved it. Crappy weather!
Had 4 days of noms, DO NOT GO DOWN OSGOOD TRAIL!!!
A great week learning with guide Kurt Winkler
Stayed all along the ridge. Love these mountains
22 years of the Presidential's. Never cease to amaze especially in winter. So beautiful yet so unforgiving. Every once in a while your lucky enough to get a perfect winter day and when you do...PURE HEAVEN!
We started at Jackson and worked our way north. Did it in 2 days, probably would do 3 if I did it again. Stayed at LOC. 40's windy/gray day 1, 70's and bluebird day 2. Thats the whites for you!
Did the single-day Traverse (+Clay) with my buddy from school. Done in 19.5 hours, even with my friend's re-aggravating an old knee injury while descending Washington (he's a tough guy, ha)!
over a decade here, Ice climbing, rock climbing, mountaineering, and just plain FUN
Great weekend with my brother
Climbed all the Presis, at different times of the year, in little pieces, big pieces, and a single day traverse.
always many great peaks
Took a swim in Lakes of the Clouds. Now that's good stuff ...
Did the whole shabang (north to south)in 14.5 hours. Absolutely beautiful day.
Gotta love the Whites!
OY OY OY Friggin Freeeezin'! I remember getting up late at night and seeing the moon over the snow/ice. Very beautiful. It was worth crawling out of my warm sleeping bag for! We came up Crawford -> Washington Great fun. Got me hooked on winter camping, bigtime. My first experience with spruce traps!
training for an AT thru hike in '76....it helped
Three buddies and I got up early one summer morning nailed both the North and south Traverse in 14 hours. It took us a while because we kept taking pictures. Great hike!!
