Prickly Phlox

Prickly Phlox

Prickly phlox (Leptodactylon pungens) is not really a phlox, but is closely related. It grows in open dry places from low deserts to mid-elevations in mountains of western North America. This photo was taken on the eastern Owyhee Plateau south of Bruneau. May 2004
