With Matt C
From the hairpin we did Champion to UN, then down NW ridge of UN and out via North Fork drainage. Might have attempted Deer but dry unconsolidated snow on the ridges made ascent and descent slower than normal. Will come back to hit Oklahoma and Deer from Halfmoon TH next time.

long day out
From North Half Moon TH up Oklahoma and traverse over to Deer Mountain, K 49 side trip, back onto traversing over some points to UN 13736 and finally Mount Champion. Descended towards the road and back to Half Moon TH. 19.09 miles and 6754 feet elevation gain.

More boring Sawatch bumps, but cool in winter
6/16/06 - Quick hike en route to the Elks for the weekend.
1/5/18 - Started at the Highway 82 east side winter closure. Trenched my way up Lackawanna Gulch, then climbed the south slopes of Champion and gained its east ridge near the top. Traversed out and back to UN 13,736.

En route to Deer Mtn
Second time I've been up Champion from N Lake Fork TH (directly up the SW slopes). This time, on to Deer Mtn, with Gerard Talavera. Fine ridge run.
Climbed this peak as part of a 3 day ski mountaineering guide training.

Combo Scramble
A long day in the Sawatch that included these two (Champion & 13,736) and "K-49", Deer Mountain and Mt. Oklahoma.
Good weather, windy and even was flurried on top of Okie!

From Oklahoma to Champion
Climbed these peaks at the end of a long ridge run of OK/Deer/K49. Fun way to hit 5 peaks in the top 300 in a day if the weather holds for you!

Lake Fork Loop
From the N Lake Fork TH. Climbed Champion and UN 13,736, as well as an out and back on "K49" enroute to Deer's South Ridge. Encountered some short but nice class 3 both enroute and on the south ridge. I descended Deer's NW ridge. Nasty!! The trail from the pass back to the TH was very pleasent. I'd guess about 11 miles and 5200 ft. RT 6:39
Climbed both of these peaks together with Deer Mountain. Some fun scrambling on the traverse with Deer. Definitely worth making the trip around to the north side of these peaks, the ridges on PT 13736 hold some scrambling fun!
