If you leave the 4WD road here (7,720 ft) you can head southeast rather easily up to Pu'uhonua'ula. This is a good shortcut to the main summit. Pu'uhonua'ula will offer a great view down to civilization at Kailua-Kona if the weather permits. March 3, 2007.
