Puhia Pele - the pit I

The pit at the top of Puhia Pele. This one was plenty deep but not as aesthetic nor frightening as the one atop Luamakami, the only other such vent pit on the island (apparently) and I feel sooo special to have visited them both. March 2007.

Nice hole!

I didn't get this far last trip - thanks for these great shots and descriptions. I'll know to bring the auxiliary breathing gear, too!
