"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

Slightly disappointingA little bit of a disappointment. After a whole morning walking around (and summiting!) Plomb du Cantal, getting on the cement stairs between the Pas de Peyrol and Puy Mary with a crowd of tourists was kind of an anti-climax. Nevertheless, I found the location of Puy Mary really beautiful and the mountain does have a very good aspect when you forget everything else. A climb from Super Lioran -via Puy Griou and Puy de Peyre Arse- could be the way to see its most beautiful face.

Plomb du Cantal and Puy MaryWe went to Super-Lioran with the desire of climb Puy Griou and Puy Mary but it was raining and for this reason we climbed Plomb du Cantal across the pistes of ski-resort. When we reached the summit the sun shined and we descended across the Puy de Rocher and Rocher du Cerf. We decided to climb Puy Mary after a lunch but it was almost impossible from Super-Lioran in the same day and we climbed from Col de Peyrol with a lot of tourists. I climbed Puy de la Tourte in the other side of the col as well. The next time in the area we will try the hike from Super-Lioran to this nice peak.
