Those who don't make a speed test out of the climb to Cerro Chirripó and its neighbors can see incredible wildlife along the way. This resplendent quetzal (Pharomachrus mocinno) sat quietly on a branch just yards from the path, about 3 kilometers above the trailhead, but few trekkers saw it.
