Nice winter hike.
Winter is perfect time to explore Colorado hiking lower peaks with equal beauty as high peaks. Nice Sunday morning in the mountains, gorgeous views of Pikes Peak.

Definitely up there with Herman in my favorite easy mountains. My hiking partner and I decided the summit is more of a class 2 than a class 3. We also saw an elderly couple at the trailhead when we started, but never saw them again. Probably gave up.

Nice Hike
Just noticed I forgot to sign this log when I hiked this over a year ago... Was surprised to see how popular this trail was.

Fourmile Rd TH
My wife and I meandered up the old road/trail to the top in solitude amazingly enough. Great 360 degree panoramic views. We watched the sunlight reflect on the ant-like vehicles making their way to the top of Pikes.

A great warmup hike
I really enjoyed hiking this mtn. It was a perfect warmup hike for Uncompahgre 3 days later.
Brian - you have a topo route for this outstanding day? Maybe I can repeat 2/3 of it?! :)

from the road to Crags
Ran this one with the dogs for a quick afternoon adventure. A bit of snow near the top, but the scrambling was still doable. Wish I'd done it sooner; I'll be back.

I led a group of kids from springs that was from Peace Camp Sponsored by the Peace and Justice commission. We were staying at the Mennonite camp so we cut half the hike out by starting from our cabins. Some whining and such (some kids were 6), but once on top everyone was very happy. Great views, scrambling on the rocks and millions of lady bird beatles (Lady Bugs).

The word was sent not to bring snowshoes... don't believe that for one moment- it was post hole city! Great climb though :-)

Blissful way to spend 2 hours
Another great hike with my dog Keisha. My 4th summit and Keisha's 3rd. I just needed to get away from the schoolwork for a while and wasn't really planning on doing a long hike, but the lingering warm weather just called me out of the house.
Up and down in 1:52, and spent less than a minute on the summit. Anyway, I took the small trail leading from the main trail just off the trail head instead of taking the 4-wheeler trail all the way. Anyone else do that?

3rd time
Took my wife and our neighbors up. Beautiful day, but a little windy at the top. Ran into user "gulo" on the way down (see previous post).
This was my third time on the summit. LOVE the views.

Beautiful day today, no clouds at all and fairly warm. Met several people going up on my way down. Thew views from top are incredible, all front range peaks still covered in snow

Sweet climb!
I just love this hike! Beautiful easy climb through the rolling forest and with a wide trail. Then, the trail tightens up for the final summit push and scramble. Still lots of snow on the summit push, but the summit was snow free. Great cloud-free views! Oh, and this was the first summit for my 18-month old huskie. Look for her on the trails!
OK, so from looking at the map, I figured that the route would be 1.5 miles to the summit. Turns out it was over 3. No problem, though, because the wide trail took me straight to the top. I didn't look too hard for the final scramble to the top of the rocks, but just sat and took pictures for a few minutes before running back to the car in under 45 minutes. All in all, an easy hike that could easily turn into a regular workout.
