Awesome name !

The Raven's Balcony! Kind of like buzzards roost, here in AZ. Do you have Turkey Vultures flying over Red Rocks OR Lake Mead,
(not now), but in late spring and summer???
I love ravens - I have EVEN seen them in Alaska! Thanks for posting, Anya!!!

Re: Awesome name !

Yes, good guess. There are Turkey Vultures around here both in Red Rocks and around Lake Mead. Quite a few of them actually. Ravens are a common sight also above the peaks in Mt. Charleston. This past summer we saw probably around 20 of them above Griffith Peak. Maybe they had a conference up there?;)

Another question ..

How does a person gain access to Raven's
Balcony? Can a person reach Raven's
Balcony from Anniversary Narrows Peak?
If I were a raven, I wouldn't have a
problem, I could just fly to it. Alas,
I am a mortal with a quest for beauty!

Re: Another question ..

No, you would have to descend Anniversary Narrows Peak to get to Raven's Balcony.
The best way is to park along the Northshore Road and hike towards Raven's Balcony through the Bowl of Fire. It's very scenic. The front side of Raven's Balcony is very cliffy but it is class 2/3 scramble from the back side.
