Perfect day in the Sierra climbing NE ridges of Red/White and Isaak Walton. The latter one is the much better climb.
Mosquitos were just horrible, never seen anything like this.

Northeast ridge
The traverse from the
ridgeline to the base of the upper NE ridge was a bit tedious. The final class 3 to the summit was nice. No register or container at the summit.

NE Ridge
Approached from McGee Creek Canyon. Beautiful area especially the meadow near red and white. Climbed the NE ridge with Rick and Rob and descended on the SE face. Stunning view from the summit.

NE Ridge
Ascended out of Little McGhee Lake and across the ridge as the photos show. Descended the East Gully which was really loose. Good climb - didn't find it as bad as the description notes.

NE Ridge (ascent) / SE Face (descent)
Day hiked this one with Tommey after hiking up Red Slate. We took one look at the ridge between McGee Pass and Red & White and decided it was too much of an adventure. Amazed how close Isaac Walton was (about one air mile).
I really enjoyed this route. And the approach scenery, along with the views of Fish Creek drainage from the summit, were spectacular.

Northeast Ridge
Climbed from the trailhead to the summit in 4hrs 20min. Mostly snow above Little McGee Lake, then a hike along the ridge, to a fun, pretty solid scramble to the summit. Good route, I would recommend it over most 3rd class routes I've done in the Sierra. 8hrs 40min round trip.
Back in the early 2000's. A fun two day trip camping at Big McGee Lake. Absolutely stunning geology on the hike in and a fun, pretty mellow scramble. Recommended.

Red & White via Northeast Ridge
Day hike from the McGee Creek trailhead. The NE Ridge route was better than I expected (probably based on low expectations). I elected to descend the same way that I had climbed up. Very nice fall colors in the canyon on the hike in (though probably a couple weeks from peak color). It took me 9 hrs 45 min roundtrip.

Route Climbed: NE Ridge (ascent) / SE Face (descent) Date Climbed: Aug 11, 2003The NE Ridge seemed almost more like class 2, but I found the SE Face a bit spicy in places. Fantastic views from the summit.
