Relaxing in Oak Creek

Relaxing in Oak Creek

Three Desert Bighorn Sheep Ewes (Ovis canadensis nelsoni) relaxing and chewing their cud in the North fork of Oak Creek Canyon. Red Rocks, Nevada. April 2008. You have a very high chance to see bighorns in this canyon if you are perceptive. They do blend in well with the rocks though especially when they are sitiing down and not moving. Bighorns are grazers and feed throughout the whole day. They can go for extended periods of time without drinking water, but in Red Rocks with so many springs flowing this is never an issue.
