Roads Ends

The Roads End provides ample parking and toilet facilities for visitors to Nevada's Ruby Mountains. This is the only paved 2WD access to the Rubies. It is also the best and most direct access. The Island Lake trailhead (not visible) is ahead and to the left, near the head of the parking area, and the Ruby Crest north trailhead is behind me in this photo. The Ruby Crest Trail runs south from here for about 42 miles, much of it at higher elevations along the crest of the Rubies. Photo taken 11/7/07.
