Rocky Island-- West Face

Seen from the base of the Dihedrals crag (Virginia side of Great Falls) on the day of a snowstorm. Mather Gorge is narrow here, and the rapids and bends make for exciting Class III-IV kayaking in high water. Rocky Island itself has several good toprope routes up to 50', though most are on the other side of the crag. Great Falls, MD/VA-- March 2009
