Re: MAN,

Thanks Lew.

It looks climbable, sort of, but from looking at the contours, I guess it's probably easier from the other side.

Re: MAN,

Not the right skyline, but the next ridge over looks like it might be do-able. Don't know about getting up to it, and there look to be a couple of short steep sections towards the top, but it might go. Stay away from the crest on the lower sections tho - nasty-looking cornices. Once you gain the upper saddle, looks rather straightforward from there to the summit.

But, that ridge is foreshortened in this view, just as likely it's an impassible nightmare!

Everything else visible seems to be well-guarded by either nasty-looking seracs, avalanche fields, or both!

Peace,

Big Lew

Re: MAN,

Writing the Nevado Uruashraju page, I had another look at this picture and at the map. From the picture it's hard to tell how suitable the next ridge over would be as a route, but the map shows that it's not really an option. But, on the bright side, coming from the NW, from Quebrada Rajucolta, the map shows a very gentle slope for most of the route. Of course, the map is only 1:100000, so there may be a few steepish sections, but it looks like a nice objective next time around.
