Vern pauses along the dramatic west route on Mount Tabeguache in less than ideal conditions, which transformed a simple Class 2 jaunt into a challenging Class 3 snow and ice outing. Jim Lierman was with us on this climb. Two days later, we would climb neighboring Shavano in sunny and dry conditions. This route would later be closed by the Forest Service.
