South Fork
My wife and I started out at the south fork trail, we camped at dry lake the first night and summited on the second day. We spent the second night near dollar lake and hiked out the next morning. Fun trip.

South Fork Trail
Climbed Ol' Greyback with my Ol' Buddy CBUELOW. Camped the night before at High Meadow Spring Trail Camp in windy and cold conditions. Not much water there. Stashed our packs at Dollar Lake Saddle and beelined to Ol'Greyback the next morning. This would be the first of four peaks that day. The night before we knocked out Alto Diablo Peak from our camp.

1st Major Hike with New Hip
Vivian's Creek to the summit, my 6th week after a total hip replacement!
Gotta love technology...

Dollar Lake Saddle
1st of 4 peaks that day with Ol' Walsher. Hiked over from High Meadow Spring trail camp, left our packs at Dollar Lake Saddle and headed straight to the top. Windy and cold at the summit with clouds obscuring the views south and east. San Jacinto was barely peeking above the clouds to the south. After eating a sandwich and signing in, we made a beeline for Jepson.
Did this as a training hike, and breaking in new boots. Got huge heal blisters by mile 3 but continued on anyway. Nice challenging hike.

Vivian Creek Trailhead
We did this over 5 years ago in the summer. As part of training for bigger climbs I took my partner up for her first time. Sunny and nice. Left at 10:35 and back by 4:15.

Vivian Creek Trail
After a cold night at High Creek Camp, headed up to the summit around 7:45AM. Ran into cold, wind and blowing snow along the way, but we managed to summit. Stayed long enough to sign the registry and grab a snack. The top was heavily clouded so no need to stay for the view!
When I arrive in the parking lot there was a few inches of snow covering all the cars and still snowing. I left at 10:30am and it was snowing all the way up. It was amazing to see everything covered with snow. On the summit it was very windy and cold. The wind chill factor probably made it in the teens or single digits. All I know is the water around my nose was frozen!
Made it back at 5:10pm.
The first time I went up via Fish Creek; less gain but even longer. I think I might actually prefer Vivian Creek...
We were above the clouds all day! If you are sensitive to altitude, the last 1000 feet are kind of a drag. Got a headache and my stomach was a little upset. Took Advil at the summit and then it was a fairly smooth sail down. Great for training!!

3rd Summit
We went up the Vivian Creek Trail to the top. Took a different trail down and camped at High Meadow Spring and back down on the Momyer trail. Previous trips included a day hike on Fish Creek Trail from the campground and another one where we camped up nearer the summit.
Twice from Vivian Creek, once up the Dobbs ridge and once along the trail. The third time was the long loop from South Fork as a dayhike also hit both Charlestons and Jepson.

Vivian Creek
A cold, clear day. Temps on top in the low teens with sub-zero wind chill. I didn't stay long! Dang, forgot the camera. The previous week's storm didn't drop much snow. What little post holing there was was due to wind drifting. No crampons, but give it a few days to warm up and they'll come in handy.

Butt Kicked, but made it!
Only 4 hours of sleep the night before and getting up at 3:00am did not help my exhaustion, but we made it to the summit on an absolutely gorgeous Fall day! Took the South Fork Trail, set up camp at Dry Lake and then made the summit in the afternoon. The hike down required headlamps in the dark, but the night sky was amazing. Temps at camp were below 20 degrees, but a warm meal and a warm bag were appreciated by all. Hiked out on a warm Sunday morning. Only passed five people on the trail all day Saturday, but a dozen or so on Sunday.

Better planned and executed dayhike via Vivian Ck. trail
12 years later, went back much better prepared. Made the summit on a cold, windy November day. Views to N. obscured by clouds. Views to S. were outstanding.
