Sand Run Falls

Sand Run Falls

This was one of my favorite spots growing up. It was only a few miles away and can be reached by a hike anywhere from 2-6 miles. This shot was taken during the late summer after a dry year so there is not much water flow. Still, it has a great swimming hole and it is very cold anytime of year. (August 4, 2007)

Swim

We've had many a good swim in that hole, haven't we Tom? One of the best parts of this swimming hole is being able to pull yourself up behind the waterfall and sit on that rock as the water crashes in front of you.

Re: Swim

Certainly has been a great spot over the years. Now that the Mid State Trail goes by it I hope to swim in it when I thru-hike that some day.

Destination

There's nothing quite as nice as a blue swimming hole at the end of a hike!

Re: Destination

Absolutely! I've been going to the swimming hole for about 10 years now and have seen it in all kinds of conditions; ice, drought, flood. Always fun to jump into on a hot summer day.
